Cherokees Helping Cherokees

Cherokee Nation At-Large Mutual Assistance, Inc. is a charitable organization dedicated to honoring and preserving Cherokee sovereignty, culture, and values. We support At-Large citizens by providing meaningful assistance for those facing financial hardships and unique challenges.
Why We Exist
Over 320,000 Cherokee Nation citizens live at-large—outside the reservation and often without access to tribal services. Federal funding and many tribal programs do not serve citizens living off-reservation. About 12% of at-large tribal citizens report financial hardship.
What We Do
CNALMA provides one-time assistance to at-large Cherokee Nation citizens. We are currently able to assist with burial expenses, and shelter expenses up to $1,000. This support is available once per household per year.
Our ability to assist is funded through charitable donations from caring individuals and organizations and changes over time based on demand and donations.
Our Story
Cherokee Nation At-Large Mutual Assistance was founded in 2023 to serve citizens who live beyond the reservation. We are guided by the Cherokee principle of di-ga-da- tse-li-i—“we belong to one another”—and operate as a volunteer-run, citizen-led nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status.
